A Positive Downfall

Is there such a thing as a positive downfall? I've always been one to care a lot about others, almost to the point where I put my own needs on the back burner. Scratch that I DO put my own needs on the back burner.Who would have dreamt this to be a negative thing right? Well turns out I'm coming to the realization that it is, or the extent that I care is. I literally make myself crazy or keep myself up at night trying to figure out how to help the situation or stress out about it myself. I have officially begun "Project Me". I need to look out for myself a little bit more than I have been in the past. My schedule and priorities and goals need to take the forefront in my life and especially at this point in my life. I've been so busy helping everyone around me get to where they are going, which makes me happy to do but I need to start doing all that I can do to make my own career goals fall into place. People never cease to amaze me, you go out on a limb for someone and come through but you can not expect the same in return. As sad and jaded as it sounds you can't put that much faith into people you have to go after what you want yourself. This is going to be a slow and steady process for me, I have always been the give give give type and I'm going to start being a little more selfish all the way around. If I myself don't believe that I deserve this, who will? I hope that making the proper changes in my life will allow what I need to do to become clearer and any new opportunities to present themself more clearly. A friend was recently "struggling" with a similar situation as I was and as he sort of said when we sit back and look at what we are weighing our decision on and whether anyone else would look at it that way it seems juvenile.
